Information we collect
We collect different kinds of information. Some of it is personally identifiable and some is non-identifying or aggregated. Here are the types of information we collect or receive:
- Account information
- Due to legal restrictions we are required to store the full legal name and a valid email address of every user.
- Billing details
- We DO NOT store payment details (including full credit card details) on our servers. All payments are processed by Stripe, an third-party payment processor and we never have access to your full credit card number and CCV security code. We only store the last 4 digits of your credit card and your billing address (as required by tax laws).
- Messages, pictures, files and videos you send or receive during the usage of our services are stored in our database for further retrieval by yours. These informations are never shared with anybody else then those having access to your account.
- Log data
- When you use our services, we automatically record information, including information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website or your mobile app sends when you are using it. This log data may include your Internet Protocol address, your browser type and version, your operating system and version, the date and time of your request and cookie data. Log data does not contain chat content.
Personal information about our users is an integral part of our business. We neither rent nor sell your personal information to anyone with the exception of sharing your information with certain trusted partners to perform functions and provide services to us, including hosting, maintenance and payment processing.
Cookies are small text files sent by us to your computer and from your computer to us, each time you visit our website. They are unique to your account or your browser. Session-based cookies last only while your browser is open and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last until you or your browser delete them or until they expire. Some cookies are associated with your account and personal information in order to remember that you are logged. If you access our services through your browser, you can manage your cookie settings there but if you disable all cookies you may not be able to use our services.
We take reasonable steps to protect information you provide to us as part of your use of our services from misuse and unauthorized access. When you enter sensitive information (such as sign-in credentials) we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted standards to protect the personal data submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.
All account passwords are stored encrypted using bcrypt, a key derivation function designed for passwords. Per-connection passwords are stored encrypted with a separately stored per-user key and are only encrypted into the volatile memory of the executing server. These arrangements should make it harder for an attacker to get your information if they gain access to these information.
Prevent sending passwords and other sensitive data via private or public messages since all chat histories are stored unencrypted in our database. You may use commands such as /auth or /oper since we do not store any outgoing commands. However keep in mind that when connecting to IRC networks provided by third-parties these may send your data over insecure connections.
We may change this policy from time to time, and if we do we’ll post any changes on this page. If you continue to use our services after those changes are in effect, you agree to the revised policy.
